Beginning of the band, Pleasance debut singles

The band known as Pleasance formed via BIMM around April 2023 as an indie folk-rock band. Fronted by Sophie Gaskell, the group would hit the circuit with a series of gigs especially associated with the Moonrock Promotions scene (although they wouldn’t sign with the label). This lead to the group gaining quick momentum in Brighton as a feminist-queer forward band, pushing the momentum all the way into 2024 with the release of their debut single “Fruit” in June 2024. The band would find themselves back to gigging, this time reaching outside of Brighton in areas such as Kent. The group’s build would slow down due to the lengthy time it took until the follow-up single “Cool” would release in May 2025. Since then, the band have continued to focus on gigging around Brighton with a slower pace then previously.

In 2026, the band would release their third single, “Casanova”.
