Early days, Guildford

Part of the Guildford-Brighton migration, Cutflowers started as both the brainchild of Kai Wilks and George Kassell. First met when attending ACM, the band formed properly after bringing in brother Max Kassell on guitar, there onwards, Cutflowers began to perform and record in Guildford until 2022. They would also notably begin working on their EP ‘In the end’ during this period, releasing the single ‘Nothing’ in January 2021.

Later Cutflowers would collaborate with Charles Palmer (Under his monkier ‘Charles Penn’) on his single ‘Consider my organs gathered’ in April 2021, he would later join the band as their bassist. In 2022, they would make the move to Brighton and join BIMM, finally beginning their mark on the scene with a performance at the Freemasons in November.

Move to Brighton

They would primarily focus their efforts as a recording band, releasing their album ‘In the end’ in September 2023. They would then perform within the BIMM scene, performing at student events and freshers until finally releasing ‘Only I’ around August 2024. This would be followed by several gigs in and outside Brighton until they would bring out a mixtape in June 2025. They would also quietly release ‘The Game’ to subscribers to their online newsletter two months later, with ‘Sailor’ proceeding two months after that which would notably receive radio play on BBC Introducing Sussex.

In November they would surprise release another single, this time ’17’ on their Youtube channel. They would go quiet until March 2026 where they would return with the release of ‘Up High’ which would be promoted by a music video AND a gig announcement to fundraise their next EP in April at Green Door Store.
