Aquatic Ape Theory formed as a band in July 2020 but moved to Brighton in 2022. A sleeper hit of a group, Aquatic Ape Theory began building up their following slowly thanks to their focus on recording rather then gigging, which was rare for a band at the time. As one of the few bands where the musicians were also producers, all the songs were produced in house and released independently. Their first single would release in December 2023 as “Pidgeon”, followed by “Locked up” in April 2024. “Melody I Dreamt” would release in March 2025 which would receive radio play on BBC Introducing, with their fourth single “Days go by” coming out on the 27th June that year with further radio play. They would also play Great Escape Unplugged in 2026.
