Early days, lineup changes

The foundation for Spill originally started in Norwich where several members of the band already knew each other before moving to Brighton in 2023. Around April, the band would debut as a 4-piece where they would begin to be known as a capable grunge, heavy-rock band. However, singer Marc John Burgess would end up being replaced by Sophie Cawth due to internal issues around early 2024. There on, the band would perform many gigs over the coming months, later adding Kieran King as rhythm guitarist after he moved up from Norwich a year later from the bands formation.

Debut single, tour, disbandment

The now 5-piece would finalise the new lineup by releasing “Mr Blue” in January 2025, followed by a promotional tour to show off the new single. However, after disagreements in the band, Thomas Williams was replaced right after the tour by Sam Sezarin (of M.woodroe fame) who had previously worked with Spill as a Cello player. The band would announce their break-up with a farewell gig at Green Door Store on the 9th July 2025.

Afterword

Closely associated with their peers Fever Rouge, the band would perform many gigs and work together each other throughout the years (sharing bass players, close friendships and covering each other). Kieran King would later go on to join his bandmate Alain De Gouveia in Fever Rouge as lead guitarist. De Gouveia would also be well known for his work in Fever Rouge, but would also start up Sunbound with Sezarin later on. Charly Turpin would focus on his other band Mosaic and would perform as a guitarist in musical theatre. Williams would start Space Frog Lobotomy after his departure. The band would also have a strong working relationship with photographer Anna Pollanichko, who would be a staple at their gigs.
